BMW has invested €500 million at its maiden Munich plant to build the 3-Series
BMW has begun production of the 2012 BMW 3-Series F30 at its maiden plant in Munich. The Bavarian automaker has invested €500 million to build the 3-Series at the plant.
Production of the sixth-generation 3-Series sees BMW employing latest-generation laser robot technology for the body and paint work. A new body shop also had to be built to accommodate new construction technologies being employed.

Another BMW M6 Coupe prototype has crashed while testing on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife after a previous incident last August.
The crash, which took place last week, appears to have caused some pretty severe damage to the front and rear ends of the car, as we can see in the spy photos here.

While we here at Leftlane may not normally cover news pertaining to tech-based companies or their personnel, we unanimously concluded that a man of Steve Jobs’ stature and with his level of contributions deserved nothing less than a tribute for all he has given us.
Apple announced this evening that Jobs, 56, the man that arguably had more influence on technology in today’s cars than any other single man in recent times, passed peacefully after a seven-year battle with cancer.

BMW leading Mercedes-Benz by a margin of around 7,000 units for the year
BMW has extended its lead in U.S. premium brand sales over its arch-rival Mercedes-Benz.
For September sales were up 19 percent for the Bavarian brand while increasing only 9 percent for the Stuttgart-based automaker Mercedes. Sales for the year through to the end of September were 177,679 units for BMW while for the Mercedes-Benz brand total sales were 169,862.
