The 328i is better than the 335i.
We are not the only ones claiming that the entry-level BMW 3 Series, fitted with a clamorous lightweight turbocharged four-cylinder engine, is more agile and tossable than its turbocharged six-cylinder sibling – it appears to many that the segment leader has been displaced by its weaker brother.

Well, maybe.

That big 'maybe,' and a whole bunch of its little 'maybe' associates, are what convinced us to grab the keys to a brand-new six-cylinderBMW and take it home for a week. Our objective was to determine why the muscular 335i, long the performance benchmark of compact sport sedans, was getting its tailpipes handed to it by its four-banger kin.

2014 BMW M3 V6 rumors return with details

According to InsideLine, BMW is developing a brand new V6 engine that will power the new M3 when it hits the market in 2014. The news comes somewhat as a surprise as BMW has never produced a V6 powered model in their long and illustrious history. The switch to a V-configuration will also represent the M3's first foray away from the high-revving naturally-aspirated units to the turbocharged arena - another major change in BMW's engineering principle over the past few years.

BMW and Toyota will co-develop lithium-ion batteries



BMW and Toyota have announced plans to co-develop lithium-ion batteries.
Details are limited, but the companies will collaborate on "next-generation environment-friendly vehicles and technologies." As such, engineers will look for ways to increase the performance and capacity of lithium-ion batteries through the use of new combinations of materials for cathodes, anodes and electrolytes.
The latest announcement follows a recent agreement which stipulates that BMW will supply Toyota with 1.6- and 2.0-liter diesel engines.

BMW M5 Will Compete In The 2012 One Lap Of America

After being named the world’s fastest sedan with a 7:55 Nurburgring lap time, BMW’s new M5sports sedan will make its appearance in the One Lap of America event starting May 4, 2012. It will enter the Luxury Sedan class for top honors in the new "Showroom Stock" class. Next to it, the BMW Performance Center will be providing the One Lap of America staff with official vehicles for 2012.

US-spec BMW X1 & M6 Convertible confirmed for New York debuts

BMW has confirmed their line-up for the New York Auto Show next month will include world debuts for the M6 Convertible alongside the US version of the X1 Sport Activity Vehicle.
The M6 Convertible returns to the market after a two year break with its 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V-8 that produces 560 PS (412 kW / 552 hp) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. It comes with the soft-top fabric roof that can be opened and closed within 19 seconds at speeds of up to 40 km/h (25 mph).

BMW recalls 1.3 million vehicles

BMW AG issued a recall yesterday for 1.3 million cars to repair a battery cable cover located in the trunk. The defect affects 5- and 6-Series models built between 2003 and 2010.

BMW and Toyota have formally kicked off their research partnership by working on creating increased capacity and higher-performance lithium ion batteries, the two automakers said today in a joint statement.
The two brands first announced their intended cooperation late last year, but their plans were not formalized until this week. A memorandum of understanding was signed on December 1, 2011. Both brands are seeking to stay abreast ofVolkswagen in Europe.

BMW 3 Series sedan race car debuts in South Africa


A brand new BMW 335i (F30) equipped with BMW Performance parts has been unveiled as a race car for the first time in South Africa.
BMW South Africa in conjunction with ADF Motorsport will compete for the first time in the local production car championship, the Wesbank Super Series race meeting, at Killarney in Cape Town on 31 March 2012 and then at the 2012 Nurburgring 24-hour race later this year.
