BMW i8 / Vision EfficientDynamics spied undisguised

On a recent trip to Abu Dhabi, Teamspeed member Captain Stradale stumbled upon a BMW photo shoot for the Vision EfficientDynamics / i8 / i100.
While the pictures were taken at a distance, you can see the car is a more production-ready version of the VED concept that debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Most of the extreme styling carries over, but there's a revised hood and modified doors.

BMW adopts Nvidia GPU for in-car displays

BMW navigation system
After dominating PC graphics, Nvidia set its sights on other industries, most recently getting into the automotive sector, powering navigation system graphics in Audi cars. Now Nvidia announces a partnership with BMW to power the graphics in all of its infotainment systems.
In Audi navigation systems, the Nvidia GPU allows rich 3D building and landscape rendering. BMW's current high-end navigation systems also employ rich 3D maps, but the Nvidia GPU should improve rendering speed. Nvidia says its GPU will enable 1280x600 resolution graphics in BMW's next generation infotainment system.
A prototype of the new infotainment system will be on display in a BMW 5-series at CES this week.

Our intrepid spy photographers have managed to catch several new pictures of the 2012 BMW 1-Series.
Undergoing testing in Europe, this five-door prototype is thinly camouflaged which gives us a better glimpse of the prominent grille, sportier bumpers, and production taillights. Overall, you can see the car will be slightly longer and feature a slimmer C-pillar which should help to improve rearward visibility.

BMW M3 by V-BT Racing

From the factory, the BMW M3 is powered by a 4.0 liter V8 engine that delivers 420 HP. That’s more than impressive for a sports coupe of its size, but in Abu Dhabi, regular cars are not something people like.
