The production version of BMW's Vision EfficientDynamics (VED) Concept is inching closer to reality as the company's teaser site, Dontblogaboutthis.com, has released a new video which shows the vehicle in action.
While details are limited, you can clearly see the prototype has dropped the 6-Series body and now features a full VED shell. This is rather interesting as all the main styling attributes are carried over, expect the glass doors.
No word on what will power the production model, but the concept featured a plug-in hybrid powertain which combined with a three-cylinder diesel engine with two electric motors. Packing 262 kW (356 PS / 351 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, the concept could accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds and hit an electronically limited 155 mph. More importantly, fuel consumption was 3.76 liters/100km (equal to 62.6 mpg) and CO2 emissions were 99 g/km.
Expected to be launched in 2013, with a limited production of up to 10,000 units, the model could be called i100 Coupe ActiveHybrid.
