BMW Brilliance 5-Series plug-in hybrid concept for Auto Shanghai

BMW Brilliance Automotive, BMW's China unit, will be unveiling a new plug-in hybrid sedan concept at Auto Shanghai 2011 later this month.
The plug-in hybrid sedan will be based on the long-wheelbase version of the 5-Series which the automaker sells in China. The premium sedan will feature a hybrid-drive set up that includes a 160 kW (218 PS / 215 bhp) petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology coupled to a 70 kW (95 PS / 94 bhp) electric motor.

The 5-Series hybrid plug-in will have an all-electric/emissions-free range of 75 km (47 miles) when moving at a constant speed of 60 km/h (37 mph). This is achieved from a battery pack of unspecified capacity. Maximum range, including the petrol engine, will be 400 km (250 miles).
BMW Brilliance says it will take the 5-Series plug-in hybrid to production in China starting in 2013.
