Following the death of Jack Pitney, BMW
has named a new vice president of North America marketing. Pitney was
tragically killed last month during an accident on his farm. Pitney was
just 47 years old.
Dan Creed will succeed Pitney as BMW’s
North American marketing head. Creed, 44, will officially take his new
post on October 1. Creed is currently BMW’s head of aftersales.
“Dan
Creed is clearly the right person to step into the role because he has
serious marketing, sales and aftersales experience and has worked
closely with our retail network in developing effective relationships,”
Jim O'Donnell, president of BMW of North America, said in a statement.
Additionally,
Russ Lucas has been named vice president of the eastern region. Pitney
was scheduled to take over that position this month.
Lucas, 53, currently head’s BMW’s used vehicle
sales. In his new title, Lucas will oversee sales, marketing,
aftersales and dealer development activities in BMW’s eastern region.
The region – which includes 12 states – is BMW’s largest sales area.
