BMW has announced plans to introduce an M Performance Power Kit at the Paris Motor Show.
Created for the 2.0-liter four-cylinderdiesel engine that resides in the 120d, 320d and 520d, the kit includes a larger charge air cooler and an optimized ECU. Thanks to these modifications, the engine develops 200 PS (147 kW / 197 hp) and 420 Nm (310 Nm) of torque. This enables the cars to accelerate from 0-100 km/h up to one second faster than the standard models.
Despite the increased performance, BMW says the changes won't have any adverse affects on fuel efficiency or CO2 emissions. More importantly, the kit's installation won't void BMW's warranty.
The company will eventually offer a power kit for a petrol engine, but there's no word on when it will arrive.
