Car would weigh 100 kg (220 lbs) less than its predecessor
The 2014 BMW M3 has been spied with camouflage on its roof.
This doesn't sound terribly exciting but it likely means the prototype is equipped with a carbon fiber roof that will reduce weight and lower the car's center of gravity. The roof is just one of several carbon fiber components that are expected to debut on the model and help to it weigh 100 kg (220 lbs) less than its predecessor.
Besides going on a diet, the M3 is expected to have a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that develops approximately 450 bhp (335 kW) and 550 Nm (405 lb-ft) of torque. If these numbers pan out, the car will be significantly faster than the outgoing model that could run from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
The BMW M3 is expected to go on sale next summer, so look for an unveiling sometime early next year. PHOTOS
