2016 BMW 7-Series spied inside & out [video]
Work continues on the 2016 BMW 7-Series as the model has been caught undergoing testing on the Nürburgring.
Recorded by YouTube's Gumbal, the clip shows the model stretching its legs on the track before stopping at a gas station. That stop enables us to get a glimpse of the interior - at the 1:22 mark - but unfortunately there isn't much as the dashboard has been camouflaged.
As we have previously reported, the 7-Series will ride on the new 35up platform that consists of aluminum, magnesium, carbon fiber-reinforced plastic and high-strength steel. This could enable the model to weigh up to 200 kg (440 lbs) less than its predecessor.
Engine options remain unconfirmed but are expected to include an upgraded 3.0-liter inline six, a brand new 4.0-liter V8 and the familiar 6.0-liter V12. There have also been rumors about a plug-in hybrid and an entry-level variant with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. At the other end of the spectrum, there could be an M7 or M750i with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 that cranks out 600 bhp (447 kW).
