BMW has unveiled the Zagato coupe concept, ahead of its debut at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.
Jointly-developed with the Italian coachbuilder, the bespoke model
was created under the "Vmax concept" of building of a road-going vehicle
that has been aerodynamically optimized to be driven at high speeds.
As such, it features a handcrafted aluminum body with a long hood, a
double bubble roof and muscular fenders. There's also a distinctive
rear end with a transparent panel, a rear diffuser and a dual exhaust
system. Lastly, the car is finished in exclusive Rosso Vivace paint and
rides on a 19-inch alloy wheels.
Interior changes are limited, but the cabin has been equipped with
premium leather upholstery, red contrast stitching and embroidered
headrests.
Performance specifications weren't released, but BMW says the model
uses a "high-performance engine." That's a little vague, but it
appears to be connected to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
Based on the Z4,
the one-off model features a handcrafted aluminum body which is covered
in exclusive Rosso Vivace paint. While the rear end has proved to be
controversial, it has a unique design which incorporates a transparent
panel, a rear diffuser and a dual exhaust system.
Official specifications haven't been announced, but sources say the
car weighs 200 kg (441 lbs) less than the standard Z4 and features an
upgraded engine with 400 PS (294 kW / 394 hp). PHOTOS
