The recent unveiling the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake has revived rumors that BMW is considering a 6-Series Gran Touring / Gran Turismo.
The rumors first surfaced in 2010, when BMW's head of development, Dr. Klaus Draeger, revealed the company had created a 6-Series Shooting Brake concept. The model has never been unveiled, but we've seen a stream of 6-Series variants - including the coupe, convertible and Gran Coupe - since then.
Fast forward to today and reports are suggesting the model could be launched as early as 2014. It would reportedly be based on the 6-Series Gran Coupe and feature a sloping roofline with slender rear windows. Engine options would carryover from the standard model and there's word of an M variant with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that develops 560 PS (412 kW / 552 hp) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque.
