BMW’S CHRIS BANGLE AND SAAB’S JASON CASTRIOTA BUTT HEADS OVER PHOENIX

While most attendees of this week’s Geneva Motor Show were focused on enjoying the countless new cars that were revealed to the world, a few high profile automotive designers ran into each other and decided to enjoy a little tit for tat exchange regarding their respective creations.

Now, generally speaking automotive designers don’t exactly become household names, but BMW’s Chris Bangle made quite a name for himself, for better or worse, by penning a good deal of what BMW has produced in recent years. Jason Castriota on the other hand – at least prior to this video – wasn’t quite as well known, and currently is in charge of design at the ever-evolving Saab.
During the exchange, Bangle boldly approaches Castriota and directly challenges his counterpart in regard to the Saab PhoeniX concept car in front of them, heavily implying that he did not understand what Castriota was attempting to convey. Of course, when one overly confident designer confronts another, things tend to get a bit heated, and with just enough professionalism still retained (likely due to the camera in their faces), the two designers exchange several words and figurative jabs over their work.
So who do you think came out on top? Did Bangle start in the hole for his confrontational approach? Or did the BMW designer make a point and leave Castriota looking like he belongs back in JV?
