Our spy photographers recently snatched a few photos of the 2014 BMW 1-Series facelift undergoing testing.
The 1-Series is probably the least appealing model in BMW's portfolio and most likely things will remain the same until the next generation. The Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) aka facelift due next year won't bring any significant exterior changes as it seems only the front fascia will be revised. The shape of the bars in the grille will be slightly altered, while the front bumper will also be going through a minor nip and tuck. Other than that, this 1-Series prototype looks virtually the same as the current model but there could be some updates to the interior cabin.
Engines are expected to be carried over which means there will be a 1.6-liter turbo with 134 bhp (100 kW) and 168 bhp (125 kW), together with the range-topping 2.0-liter turbo churning 215 bhp (160 kW) in the 125i. On the diesel side, the familiar 2.0-liter will be offered with 114 bhp (85 kW), 141 bhp (105 kW), 182 bhp (135 kW) and 215 bhp (160 kW) in the 125d. We should also mention the more frugal 116d EfficientDynamics Edition with its 4-cylinder, 1.6-liter diesel providing 114 bhp (85 kW) and a fuel consumption of just 3.8 liters / 100 km (61.9 mpg
