BMW X4 M unlikely..

Company feels it might steal sales from the X6 M

The BMW X4 is inching closer to production and a new report is indicating the automaker has ruled out the possibility of an M variant.

Speaking to CarAdvice, BMW product communications manager Bernhard Ederer said he wouldn't bet on an X4 M because it would steal sales away from the X6 M. As he explained, “It is a little bit selfish, as it is not always about what a number of customers would like but what for us is the best business opportunity.”
Despite Ederer suggestions, the publication believes an X4 M remains a possibility as long as the standard model proves successful. If this were to happen, it would likely use the company's new 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six that develops approximately 430 HP (316 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque.
