BMW is still continuing the testing procedures for the X4 as the crossover was seen recently on the Nürburgring in Germany.
Earlier this year during 2013 Auto Shanghai we saw the X4 Concept and now the Bavarian marque is about to launch its production sibling. This time a prototype was spied testing on the ‘Ring ahead of what will probably be an early 2014 market launch, following a possible NAIAS reveal in Detroit.
In terms of design, the car will essentially look like a smaller X6 and will be underpinned by the same platform used on the X3 compact crossover. The interior cabin will probably closely mirror the X3 but with several extra goodies from the M Performance catalog.
Power is expected to come from a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine outputting 240 bhp (179 kW) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm), as well as from a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter diesel churning 184 bhp (135 kW) and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque. There should also be a more powerful TwinPower Turbo inline-six rated at 300 bhp (224 kW) and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm) of torque.
