Audi & Mercedes rejoice

BMW North America CEO Ludwig Willisch has revealed some new details about the company's future product lineup.

Speaking to Automotive News, Willisch hinted the company is working on a 1-Series Sedan but said it won't be offered in the United States in the "foreseeable future." While this is unfortunate, the executive confirmed Americans can look forward to the arrival of the 1-Series GT. Willisch went on to say the model will be versatile and "good looking" when it arrives here sometime after 2013.
When asked about the company's decision to rename the 3-Series Coupe and Convertible the 4-Series Coupe and Convertible, Willisch said "If you now look at the new 4-series Coupe, it is so different from the 3-Series you may as well call it 4."
The executive also confirmed plans to offer diesel engines in "most" their U.S. lineup within three years.
