82.52 km
BMW Performance Center Instructor Johan Schwartz established a new world record for the longest drift last Saturday.
He got behind the wheel of a stock 2013 BMW M5 equipped with the M-DCT gearbox and Continental ultra-high performance tires measuring 255/30/20 front and 295/30/20 rear. He exceeded the previous record established in February at Abu Dhabi by a whopping 47.71 miles (76.780 km) as he was able to drift the high-performance sedan for no less than 51.278 miles (82.520 km).
He did 322.5 laps around the 841-foot (circumference) Performance Center skid pad. Thanks to his achievement, the record-breaking attempt managed to grab more than 20,000 USD in charitable donations for the BMW Charity Pro-Am.
Hopefully BMW will soon upload a video with the tire-shredding run.
